Professional Experience

Paul is a partner in Fisher Jeffries Corporate and Commercial section with over 20 years of experience practising in corporate and finance, commercial, transport, property and construction. Paul was seconded to Allen Allen & Hemsley in 1992 and was promoted to partner in a large commercial firm in Adelaide in 2000.

From 2005 to 2008 Paul was employed as the Senior Legal Counsel for one of Australia's top 100 manufacturing companies, primarily involved in capital projects. Paul joined Fisher Jeffries in August 2010 providing advice primarily in the areas of construction, capital projects, mining and banking and finance.

Paul's experience in the law demonstrates expertise across the complementary areas of corporate, property, banking and finance and construction.

Major Assignments

  • Documenting and advising rail access companies on access undertakings and regimes and access agreements
  • Documenting and negotiation intergovernmental agreements concerning access to rail infrastructure and the granting and management of access rights
  • Advising major rail transport operators on trades practices, intra-state access regimes, rail services and other above rail agreements, tender documentation, derailments and capital projects
  • Advising, negotiating and documenting numerous commercial banking transactions for major Banks with particular emphasis on property finance and construction loans
  • Assisted in connection with numerous due diligences, capital raising and prospectus for major listed companies
  • Embedded project lawyer for Project Magnet ($400m) for three years
  • Negotiated and documented EPC and EPCM contracts for major capital projects for OneSteel
  • Documenting and advising United Utilities Australia Pty Ltd on several of its major water infra-structure projects
  • Advising OneSteel on its major mining contract for Iron Duke and related mines
